Dr. Faraz Awan is a Machine Learning Engineer and Data Scientist residing in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. Originally from Islamabad, Pakistan, he completed his high school education at Islamabad Model College before pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, where he graduated with distinction. Following his undergraduate studies, he joined Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a German corporation, as a Software Engineer.


Driven by his passion for knowledge, Dr. Awan relocated to South Korea and obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering, specializing in System Software, from Chung-Ang University in Seoul. He then moved to Paris, where he worked as a Research Engineer at Telecom SudParis (TSP) while pursuing his Ph.D. at Institut Polytechnique de Paris. His research at TSP focused on AI-based recommendation and prediction systems for Smart Cities, resulting in the publication of four journal papers and a book chapter on Digital Twins and Artificial Intelligence.


After three years at TSP, Dr. Awan accepted a position as a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds. In this role, he conducted data analysis and developed AI-based e-solutions for deliberative democracy in the city of Aarau, Switzerland. Currently, he serves as a Data Scientist at the Urban Big Data Center in Glasgow, UK. His primary responsibilities include data engineering on big data, geospatial data analysis, mobility pattern detection, and the development of machine and deep learning-based prediction and recommendation models.


Dr. Awan's research interests encompass various fields, including Intelligent Transport Systems, Smart Cities, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Data Engineering, Data Analytics, and Context-Aware Systems.
